1958년 국제공항 개항 당시에는 행정구역이 경기도 김포군 양서면 송정리였기 때문에 '김포국제공항'이라 명명되었으며, 1963년에 행정구역 개편으로 서울특별시에 편입되었다. 서울 지하철 5호선과 서울 지하철 9호선 그리고 인천국제공항철도로 연결되는 환승전철역인 김포공항역이 있어서 서울 전지역 및 인천국제공항과의 접근성이 뛰어나다. 2014년 세계공항서비스평가에서 4년 연속 중규모 공항(1년 이용객 1천5백만명 ~ 2천5백만명) 부문 1위를 수상하였다.Gimpo International Airport
